From Small PET Pellets to a Preform Production Line – A Mexican Client’s Journey

How does a tiny PET pellet turn into a preform, and ultimately into a complete water bottle production line? How can a small piece of PET raw material be molded into high-quality preforms through an injection molding machine? A Mexican client traveled thousands of miles to Ningbo Lisong in China to find the answer to this question.

 

Miguel, the Mexican client, came to China looking for a high-speed, high-efficiency, and energy-saving PET injection preform system. He also wanted to see firsthand how a tiny PET pellet is transformed into a preform. This time, he found the answer in Lisong’s high-speed precision PET injection molding system.

 

 

First, the PET raw material must be dehumidified and dried using a dehumidifying dryer, because PET resin contains a significant amount of moisture. After drying, the material is fed into the injection molding machine via a loader.

The material then enters the unique twin-screw structure of Lisong’s dedicated PET preform injection molding machine. Lisong’s PET-specific twin-screw system consists of a plasticizing screw and an injection screw. The twin-screw design ensures fast and precise injection, while low-speed screw rotation during recovery combined with high plasticizing capacity effectively controls the AA (acetaldehyde) value. The twin-screw structure also enables simultaneous injection, holding pressure, and screw recovery, which ensures uniform plasticization and product consistency. The two screws work in coordination to effectively reduce cycle time. The plasticizing screw is equipped with an infrared heating system, providing faster and more uniform heating while significantly reducing energy consumption. The plasticizing screw is driven by a servo motor for screw recovery, which lowers energy consumption, improves plasticizing efficiency, and shortens the molding cycle.

 

 

After passing through the plasticizing and injection screws, the molten material is injected and then enters the mold clamping unit. Miguel was impressed by Lisong’s unique direct hydraulic clamping structure. Direct hydraulic clamping minimizes platen deformation, and the machine’s parallelism follows the mold, ensuring consistent quality across every cavity. It also guarantees that clamping force is evenly distributed over the entire mold. The low-pressure mold protection during mold closing is extremely sensitive (with a mold closing force of only 1/30 of the full clamping force), providing effective protection for precision PET molds.

 

 

After the external cooling and take-out system, the PET raw material has been perfectly transformed from small pellets into PET preforms. Watching the 500-ton, 96-cavity,prefprom 3025neck,20gweight,PET machine achieve an ultra-fast cycle time of just 9 seconds – even considering the preform neck diameter and gram weight – Miguel was amazed. He remarked that China’s manufacturing speed had truly reached a new level.
